Step into a world of elegance, history, and timeless English charm with a unique experience at Peplow Hall Estate. Your visit begins with a warm welcome reception in the beautifully restored Tithe Barn, setting the tone for a relaxed and memorable afternoon.

Inspired by the Grand Tours of the 18th century, once undertaken by Britain’s aristocracy in pursuit of culture, art, and classical inspiration, this guided garden experience offers an intimate journey through one of England’s hidden heritage gems.

As you wander through the estate’s gardens and parkland, you’ll uncover a story that stretches back to Norman times. Reimagined as a refined Georgian residence in 1725, Peplow Hall has evolved through centuries of change, shaped by ambition, vision, and careful design. Each step through the landscape reveals a new layer of its rich and fascinating past.

Discover how generations of notable families have influenced the estate, transforming it into the tranquil countryside retreat and private family home it remains today.

FRIDAY 10TH  JULY

Join us for a wonderfully personal and inspiring garden visit to Grooms Cottage Garden, departing from Peplow Hall Estate at 10:00 am.

Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed by Joannne and Andy with refreshments of tea, coffee, and cake, the perfect start to a relaxed and enjoyable morning.

Nestled around a charming cottage setting, this beautifully maintained half-acre garden has been lovingly cared for since 2009. However, it was during the 2020 lockdown that the garden truly began to evolve, as its owners reimagined the space, drawing inspiration from their travels, to create a series of distinct and inviting garden rooms.

Rather than redesigning the garden all at once, it has been thoughtfully developed in sections. Each area reflects its natural conditions, whether sunny or shaded, dry or damp, resulting in a rich variety of planting styles and atmospheres. Carefully placed focal points guide you from one space to the next, encouraging exploration, while seating areas, water features, and subtle lighting create peaceful spots to pause and unwind.

At the heart of the garden lies a productive greenhouse and propagation area, used year-round for seed sowing and overwintering, before transforming into a flourishing summer space for tomatoes and salad crops.

Plant lovers will be particularly inspired by the extensive collections, including over 200 named varieties of hostas, more than 100 varieties of roses, and over 60 dahlias. The garden is densely planted and full of unusual and interesting specimens, reflecting a true passion for horticulture.

Visitors are invited to explore at their own pace, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy the sense of discovery throughout. The owners are enthusiastic amateur gardeners, always happy to share their knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned along the way.

In recognition of their dedication and creativity, the garden was awarded BBC Gardeners’ World, Gardens of the Year, People’s Choice Winner 2024.
